Medication Monitoring Program
The goal of the Community Medication Monitoring Program is to support clients to live independently in their own homes by providing medication delivery and monitoring by trained Mental Health workers. The program offers medication monitoring for breakfast, dinner and HS (bedtime) medications.
The basic principle of the program is to work in a partnership with the mental health team, the Doctor and the client on learning the life skill and the importance of medication compliance to help maintain their health and remain out of hospital.
This program has been highly successful at helping individuals who have frequent hospitalizations remain healthy and in the community. The program has also been successful with assisting clients with realizing the importance of medication compliance and learning the routine. The program offers a step down program with a slow transition through reducing the medication drops per day, then phone contact reminders, and with the ultimate success of the client being medication compliant without any assistance.
Licensed Care Facilities
The Kettle understands that women often experience mental illness differently than men and need their own space for recovery. Therefore, The Kettle has two facilities specifically for women with mental illness: Camille House and Peggy’s Place. These facilities offer 24-hour staffing in a home like atmosphere. Residents have the opportunity to develop life skills in a supportive environment through resident involvement and programming. Residents receive daily administration of medications and meals are provided.
The staff works within the psychosocial model to foster independence and choice where independence and self reliance is promoted. Staff members assist women to maintain their mental and physical health as they work on their personal goals and effectiveness. During the women’s stay they are referred to mental health support, GP and dentists, and if necessary trauma counseling, and drug and alcohol programs.
